Free Image Caption Generator with Hashtags

Turn a photo into a caption and a set of hashtags for your platform, using the AI built into your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

0 images sent anywhereEverything runs on this device. Your images never leave this computer.

Needs desktop Chrome (Windows, macOS, Linux or ChromeOS). On a phone or another browser, open this page on your computer. Chrome downloads its AI model once, which varies in size and needs about 22 GB of free disk space.

How it works

Add your photos and pick the platform you are posting to. The tool passes each image to the AI built into Chrome, which runs on your device, so unreleased photos and client work stay with you.

It writes a caption from what is actually in the picture and suggests hashtags that match. Choose how many hashtags you want, from 5 to 20, or switch them off. A cleanup check removes duplicates, stray symbols and tags that are too long.

Edit the caption in your own voice, then copy the caption, the hashtags, or both together. Because it runs locally there is no limit on how many photos you try, so generate a few variations and keep the one that fits.

The first time you use it, Chrome downloads its on-device AI model. The download size varies, and Chrome needs about 22 GB of free disk space to install it. The model is shared by every site that uses it, so you only set it up once. It needs desktop Google Chrome (Windows, macOS, Linux or ChromeOS) with its built-in AI available. Phones and other browsers are not supported yet.

Frequently asked questions

Which platforms are supported?

You can pick Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X or Pinterest. The platform changes the number and style of hashtags suggested. Captions are written to be editable on any platform.

How many hashtags should I use?

It depends on the platform and your audience. A handful of relevant tags usually beats a long list. Choose 5, 10, 15 or 20 here and trim the list by hand.

Will the captions sound like me?

They are neutral drafts. Edit them in your own voice. The page context box lets you add a line such as 'launch post for our bakery' so the caption leans the right way.

Can I use it for photos that are not public yet?

Yes, that is one of the reasons to use an on-device tool. Your images never leave this device, so unreleased products, client work and personal photos are not sent to a caption service.

Are there limits on how many captions I can generate?

No credits and no daily cap. The only limit is how fast your own computer can run the model, so large batches take longer on older machines.

Why is the tool not working on my phone?

The AI is built into desktop Chrome and is not available on phones or other browsers yet. Open the page on a computer; the examples below show the kind of captions you would get.
