Free EXIF Viewer & Photo Metadata Remover
See what a photo reveals, such as where it was taken and what camera made it, then download a clean copy. Everything happens in your browser.
Remove location from a photo
Phones and cameras often store the exact GPS position in every photo. Anyone who gets the original file can read it. Choose your photo above to see whether it has a location, then download a copy without it.
- The tool removes EXIF, IPTC and XMP data, GPS and embedded thumbnails from the copy it creates.
- Your original file is not changed.
- The clean copy is named with “-clean” added. A file name can still reveal names or places.
- Visible details in the picture, such as faces and signs, are not removed.
Selling online? Strip the location, then write the alt text with the alt text generator.
Frequently asked questions
What does EXIF data reveal?
EXIF data can include the GPS location where a photo was taken, the date and time, the camera or phone model, the lens, the editing software and sometimes the camera serial number or the owner's name.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The tool reads and cleans photos in your browser. Nothing you choose is sent to Neartool. You can check this in your browser's network tab.
Does removing metadata reduce photo quality?
For JPEG, PNG and WebP the tool removes the metadata blocks and leaves the pixel data untouched, so quality does not change. If a file can't be cleaned that way, the tool tells you before it redraws the image, which can shift colours slightly.
Can I clean HEIC photos from an iPhone?
The tool shows the metadata in HEIC photos but can't remove it yet. Convert the photo to JPEG first, then clean the JPEG here. You can also choose Most Compatible in the iPhone camera settings.
Does this hide what is visible in the picture?
No. It removes hidden data only. Faces, street signs, house numbers and landmarks stay in the image, so check the picture itself before you share it.
